Origin
In the beginning, before the cosmos took shape, there was only Chaos. This wasn't just a jumble of things, but an infinite, gaping void—a primordial abyss from which all existence would eventually spring. Ancient Greek philosopher Hesiod, in his epic poem Theogony, famously described Chaos as the very first entity, the yawning chasm from which Gaea (Earth), Tartarus (the Underworld), and Eros (Love) emerged. It was the ultimate nothingness, yet paradoxically, the source of everything. Over time, as humans moved further from the myths of creation and closer to the challenges of daily life, the word's meaning shifted. It lost its cosmic, generative sense and instead came to represent the overwhelming disorder and confusion that often threatens to swallow our own carefully constructed worlds.
